Rally for Choice

One of the main tasks of the coalition Voice for Choice is to organise and coordinate the annual Rally for Choice - a manifestation in favour of women's rights including abortion rights. Malta's first ever Rally for Choice was held on 28 September 2019 at Hastings Garden Valletta, a day of special significance because 28 September is also international safe abortion day.

Over 100 people attended the first Rally for Choice, marking history in breaking the taboo around abortion once and for all and sending the powerful message that even in Malta there is now significant support for women's reproductive rights. It was the first ever pro-choice rally of its kind in Malta. All coalition member organisations took part in the event, either through speeches or through public stalls. The rally also featured testimonials from women who suffered due to Malta's abortion ban, as well as a number of entertaining performances.

The Rally of Choice is an annual event and a staple in Malta's struggle for reproductive rights. We hope to see you there at the next one!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no rallies were held in 2020 and 2021. Malta's second Rally for Choice happened on 25 September 2022. More details on the second Rally for Choice here.
